The

the expertise of aboriginal and non-aboriginal entrepreneurs
of Canada, to promote the diversity of products and services
and reward their know-how. This is a unique occasion to
encourage business partnerships between aboriginal and non-aboriginal
peoples.
During this outstanding
evening where aboriginal cuisine and a multicultural show
will be showcased, nearly forty enterprises will be nominated
in fourteen categories linked to various sectors of the
global economy : Labour development, partnership, involvement
in the aboriginal community, agri-food, tourism, culture,
communication, French-speaking world, exportation, trade
and services, natural resources, international radiance,
business creation and entrepreneurial local support.
One non-aboriginal
company will receive an award for distinguishing itself
in the aboriginal business community and responding to the
mission of the FPBA, to promote exchange and alliances between
aboriginal and non-aboriginal peoples.
Finally, two special
awards will be presented. The Aboriginal company of the
year award will reward a company that has distinguished
itself in a special manner throughout its existence. The
honorary Life member award will be given to an entrepreneur
for his life achievements. For the 2002 edition, the recipients
are Princess Raphaella and Prince Alfred von Liechtenstein,
president of the Vienna World Peace University.
For the second
year in a row, the Mishtapew Jury, consisting of fourteen
members, will be presided by Jean-François Lépine, a reporter
at Radio-Canada and host of the television program Zone
libre.
The 5th anniversary
of the Gala, with the topic Sacred fire, will present a
show symbolizing the various forms of artistic expression
of the First people. The Gala will be aired on Radio-Canada
national television network.
For the first time this year,
the general public and guests will be able to appreciate
the products offered by companies participating in the
business exhibition taking place on Sunday November 17th,
2002 in the afternoon at the Cabaret du Capitole de Québec.
The Mishtapew
Awards of Excellence Gala is a not-to-be-missed event in
the aboriginal and non-aboriginal business community. Not

makes it possible for the general public to discover and
appreciate the entrepreneurial success of the First people.
